Software giant Microsoft has invested hugely in improving their search engine technologies as they aim to displace Google as the world’s most used search engine service. However, reports are claiming that the company is suffering a steady decline in market share over the last 12 months. In comparison, Google continues to post a steady growth in its usage by web users around the world.Microsoft recently replaced MSN Search with Live Search and the falling popularity has been noted in figures released recently by three Web metrics firms: ComScore Networks, HitWise, and Nielsen/NetRatings.Market analysts believe that one of the many reasons is the brand confusion amongst the users who are now shown a Live Search service instead of the usual MSN Search service. The interface changes every now and then and there is too much experimentation going on.

Google was built as a non commercial search engine, it gave the best results with no commercial interests. The only way Microsoft can compete is by taking on the same philosophy. If they buy Yahoo they have already been beat.

Microsoft already had signed the antitrust standard at the view of a complete between Google, its top competitor and the runaway organizer in Internet marketing, and Yahoo, the company it required to obtain to narrow the space.
