The equation for nuclear fission, e=mc^2. Is the c squared, or is m multiplied by c then the product squared?

Oi! By the time you have started looking at relativity or the energy from fission, you should have learned the basic priority of operations- or at least memorized "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally" (Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction). Exponents have higher priority than multiplication. First find c^2 then multiply by m.

I was referring to the original post. Forget about him not knowing PEMDAS, what about not realizing that multiplication is commutative and associative? That's something most people get intuitively right away, if for no other reason than there's no particular reason why it shouldn't be

OK Jeesh!! I was just curious. I have heard of the PEMDAS. That was my intuition, I was just curious. I am actually a math major, graduated in 94. Just a brain fart that's all.
