A Berkeley astrophysicist (Smoot) and a NASA engineer (Mather) won the 2006 Nobel Prize in physics today for their discovery of the strongest evidence to date that the universe began with a big bang, a feat the Nobel committee said "marked the inception of cosmology as a precise science."

"It is ludicrous that Einstein never received a Nobel for Relativity and Mather/Smoot share one for the Big Bang; which Einstein detested.
Thankfully, Sir Fred Hoyle did not live to see this day’s ignoble Nobel selection.
These are desperate times in academic theoretical physics. Now, there seems little doubt as to the cabal that supports, enriches, and enshrines itself."

It is COBE that verified the 1987 proof (http://www.CQthus.com/PT/Proof) of Pulsoid Theory (http://www.CQthus.com/PT/PTis) that discards the Big Bang. HST verified the accelerating galactic recession that is not possible with only one “bang.”
“When COBE was launched, the majority of cosmologists favored the so-called steady-state theory, which argued that matter is continually being created and destroyed throughout the universe. The big bang theory, which said that the cosmos was created in a single, mammoth explosion, was dismissed as an aberration.”
